Support us in our conservation project with the goal of restoring the wild population of the green macaw in the canyons of the rivers Río Verde and Río Santiago in the state of Jalisco.

Aves de México

Psittacine Preservation

In Mexico there are more than a thousand species of birds, of which only 22 belong to the psittacine family (parakeets, parrots and macaws) which are unfortunately at risk of extinction due to wildlife trafficking and the accelerated loss of their natural habitat.

We are working to establish alliances and raise the necessary funds to acquire a larger property, located in an environmentally favorable region to build the TXORI Sanctuary, a nature reserve where the parrots of our rescue aviaries can be released.

To know in order to love, to love in order to defend, and to defend in order to preserve.

— I want to be a volunteer

Caring for the animals and maintaining the aviary facilities in good condition requires dedication and effort. Your support as a volunteer is essential for TXORI.

Nuestro enfoque

TXORI’s project proposes establishing sanctuaries for these birds, where rescued, confiscated or captive-bred parrots can be rehabilitated, trained and released.

This will be done while integrating a social component that educates, promotes scientific knowledge, fosters environmental responsibility, and supports ecosystem restoration; thereby also creating development opportunities for the human communities that share the birds’ habitat.

The main causes of the extinction of these species are

Tráfico ilegal

→ the illegal trafficking of wild specimens

Destrucción hábitat

→ the destruction of their habitat

Cambio climático

→ global climate change

Guacamaya libre

A macaw is worth more flying free in nature than locked in a cage.
